The NUJ runs the George Viner Memorial Fund and due to the generosity of it's members, makes a contribution to the fund every quarter.

However, every year the average cost of an approved journalism course rises. This year the average course cost students £3500, this is without books, travel and the other associated costs of attending a full time course. Many students have to find this fee on top of already high debts from undergraduate courses.

This is making it ever harder for Black and Asian students to enter the field. Therefore, the trust relies on regular additional donations to be able to properly support our scholars.
